Created by Ricky Agustin, Smoke Follows Beauty tkes the muddled cucumber, cilantro and heat from the Poquito Picante cocktail and the lime juice and double agave (Mezcal & Agave Syrup) from the Spicy Margarita for a drink that is sure to be your next favourite.
“Although Vanessa personally loved Mezcal cocktails, the spirit had become so prolific that she felt that these were now the only drinks she created. The advantage, of course, was the she had the opportunity to drink quite a few (in the name of research) before deciding which ones to use as the basis of her new riffs.”
In a shaker, muddle the cucumber and cilantro. Add the Mezcal, infused Triple Sec, Lime Juice, Agave Syrup, and ice, and shake until well-chilled. Double-strain into a Nick & Nora glass.
Chop and freeze 100 grams of serrano peppers overnight in an inert container. When ready to infuse, pour in 1 liter of triple sec and allow to steep at room temperature. Taste every 20 minutes or so, stopping when the heat is where you want it.
