Polar Bear

Main Spirit Mezcal
Difficulty Easy
Technique Shaken

Created at Trick Dog in San Francisco in 2013, the Polar Bear is a riff on the classic Stinger Cocktail. While Mezcal and Créme de Menthe may not seem like natural allies, with. a little Blanc Vermouth and Angelica Tincture (which can be swapped out for Celery Bitters) this drink just works.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz. 45ml Mezcal
  • 0.75 oz. 23ml Vermouth, Blanc
  • 0.5 oz. 15ml Créme de Menthe
  • 6 drops 6 drops Angelica Tincture
Display: oz. ml.

Instructions

Combine all ingredients in an ice-filled shaker (yes, this is a shaken cocktail) and strain into a chilled glass.

Angelica Tincture – Combine 2 oz Angelica Root and 16oz of a neutral overproof spirit in a glass jar to infuse for two weeks before straining. Will last indefinitely at room temperature. Note – of Angelica Root is hard to come by a couple of dashes of Celery Bitters can be used instead.

Garnish

None
