Created by Kenaniah Bystrom at Essex in Seattle, the Smoke Signal Cocktail is a beautiful mix of flavours that encapsulates the forest through the Douglas Fir Liqueur, citrus through the juices and smoke through the tea syrup, all interacting through a base of Bourbon.


  • 2 oz. 60ml Bourbon
  • 0.5 oz. 15ml Lemon Juice
  • 0.5 oz. 15ml Orange Juice
  • 0.5 oz. 15ml Lapsang Souchong Syrup
  • 0.25 oz. 8ml Douglas Fir Liqueur
Display: oz. ml.




Shake all ingredients in an ice-filled shaker, then strain into an ice-filled rocks glass


Orange peel

Lapsang Souchong Tea Syrup: steep 1 tsp. of lapsang souchong tea in 4 oz. of hot water for 3 minutes. Strain, stir in 4 Tbsp. of sugar and let cool.
