14 Hours Ahead

Main Spirit Gin
Difficulty Medium
Technique Shaken

While tea is often steeped when used in a cocktail, this Japan-inspired drink from bartender and distiller Allen Katz, sees matcha powder added directly. As well as the Matcha, 14 Hours Ahead incorporates Gin, Lemon Juice, Lime Juice, Honey Syrup and heavy cream.

“After taking some of the teas back to a friend’s bar, Vanessa decided to add a little Matcha to the mix, as she had always wanted to go to Tokyo. And while Japanese bartenders would be horrified at her lack of precision, she reasoned that since they were 14 hours ahead, whatever messy experiements she did now, would already be perfected in their timezone.”
