Super-premium UK Gin producer Warner’s Distillery has announced it has achieved certification as a B Corporation (or B Corp), which acknowledges that the brand has demonstrated a high level of both social, as well as environmental performance.
Joining a growing group of companies reinventing business by pursuing purpose as well as profit, the distillery has met rigorous social and environmental standards relating to issues as broad as energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency.
Warner’s Distillery is now part of a community of 5,575 businesses globally that have been certified as B Corps. Included in this list are well-known brands such as The Guardian, innocent, Patagonia, The Body Shop and organic food pioneers Abel & Cole. Recent attention on the food and beverage industry makes Warner’s B Corp certification a notable step and signals a shift towards greater accountability and transparency in the sector.
“We’re thrilled to announce that Warner’s Distillery is now a certified B Corp. As the spirit of the British countryside, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. It’s not just lip service for us,” explained Founder and CEO Tom Warner. “We believe in doing the right thing for people and the planet. That’s why we craft our spirits in harmony with nature at our home on Falls Farm in rural Northamptonshire.
“As we approach our 10th birthday, we’re incredibly proud of the work we do to support our vision to become the most nature-positive drinks business in the world,” he continued. “From the action-led projects we are involved with in our local area to launching a first-of-its-kind, national pub accreditation scheme and joining initiatives such as 1% For The Planet and B Corp, there’s so much to celebrate. This is just the beginning.”
Chris Turner, Executive Director of B Lab UK, says “We are delighted to welcome Warner’s Distillery to the B Corp community. This is a movement of companies who are committed to changing how business operates and believe business really can be a force for good. We know that Warner’s is going to be a fantastic addition to the community and will continue driving the conversation forward.
“Business is a powerful force, and B Corps demonstrate that you can do good in any sector. Welcoming Warner’s is an exciting moment because they have an opportunity to lead the way within the spirits industry,” Turner continued. “Warner’s commitment to doing business differently will be an inspiration to others and really help spread the idea that we can redefine success in business to be as much about people and planet as it is about profit”.
