Irish distillers Redbreast saw thousands of whiskey fans around the world enter a ballot to purchase its 29-year-old Dream Cask release.
The fourth release in the annual series, the Dream Cask whiskey is a limited release with only 924 bottles of the 2021 expression made.
Thousands of fans signed up hoping to get the chance to purchase the single pot still whiskey, which was created by vatting four whiskeys aged for a minimum of 29 years in ex-Bourbon, Sherry and ruby Port-seasoned casks. These whiskeys were married in a single oloroso Sherry butt from Jerez de la Frontera in Spain, then left to mature for a further 15 months.
“We have been overwhelmed by the phenomenal response to this year’s ballot and delighted to see the continued momentum for our Redbreast Dream Cask collection,” said Master Blender Billy Leighton. “With consumers as far afield as Iceland, Hong Kong and South Africa, we are proud to see Redbreast Irish Whiskey taking flight across the globe.”
