PATRÓN ENCOURAGES AUSSIE BARTENDERS TO FIND THEIR INNER PERFECTIONIST(S)

September 30,2022

Local boy, Harrison Kenney, the current global Patrón Perfectionist(s), would be the first to encourage all Australian bartenders to grab a shaker and enter the competition that has changed his life and skills, before entries close at the end of next week.

The brand is asking bartenders to create a recipe reflecting their homes and the unwavering commitment to quality that goes into every drop of PATRÓN tequila. The entry challenge, called Hometown Hero, will require entrants to develop a cocktail that blends PATRÓN Silver tequila with the bartender’s local culture, using ingredients from a prescribed list, the Pantry. The initial entry submissions will be judged on appeal, appearance, inspiration, and originality.

Bartenders were invited to attend Academia PATRÓN Perfectionists state roadshows hosted by Joey Chisolm (PATRÓN Tequila Execution Manager) and Harrison Kenney (Global PATRÓN Perfectionist Winner 2022) showcasing the educational module “Discovering Deliciousness”. Focusing on flavours, ingredients, techniques, topical trends in the tequila category and mixology, the Academia PATRÓN Perfectionists modules support professional growth, as well as the preparation for the PATRÓN Perfectionists competition entry.

“It was a privilege to win the prestigious Global Patrón Perfectionists title for a cocktail that I created to represent Australia, a country with one of the greatest bar scenes in the world,” said Kenny. “I can’t wait to see the calibre of entries for this year and how the talented bartenders of Australia showcase their hero ingredients. Bartenders – if you are thinking about taking part, do it.”

Following the education and entry stages, each participating country will judge the cocktail creations to shortlist up to 10 bartenders, who will compete in the national final due to take place in November in Sydney. This year’s national finals will engage bartenders across various topics and challenges. The bartenders’ cumulative scores across the challenges will determine the national winner in each market.

This year, a special Wild Card Entry will also be selected by a global judge from the contestants of the national finals. All national winners and the Wild Card winner will go on to the much-coveted global finals experience taking place at Hacienda Patrón, Mexico, in March 2023. During the global finals, bartenders will undertake a new series of challenges, testing each part of a bartender’s skillset.

Entries are open until 10:59 AEDT on 7th October 2022 via  the entry portal academiapatron.com

1800 TEQUILA LAUNCHES 12TH EDITION OF ITS "ESSENTIAL ARTIST SERIES"

January 7,2025

Global brand 1800 Tequila has announced the 12th edition of its “Essential Artist Series,” an artist-led limited-edition bottle collaboration program that pushes the boundaries of taste in tequila and life.

This new collection features six original works of art by Mexican multimedia artist Raúl de Nieves. It celebrates the many facets of de Nieves’ Mexican heritage and identity.

The collection includes six exclusive bottles featuring original artwork by de Nieves. It is an extension of his “A Window to the See, a Spirit Star Chiming in the Wind of Wonder…” installation in the Henry Art Gallery at the University of Washington.

The collection symbolizes the relationship between the earth realm and the ancestral one through a celestial landscape of infinite possibilities. Each design represents a character on a journey of self-discovery. At the neck of the 1800 Tequila bottle lies the” Sagrado Corazón,” the heart of hours, days, and memories that come with life.

“Being Mexican has always been at the forefront of my identity, so I am incredibly honoured for 1800 Tequila, a brand that makes it a priority to spotlight Mexican voices, to have selected me as this year’s Essential Artist,” said Raúl de Nieves.

“Similar to 1800 Tequila, my culture is my craft. I am beyond excited to unveil this collaboration to the world and bring Mexican culture to a global stage through this partnership.”

The 12th iteration of the Essential Artist Series furthers the brand’s ongoing commitment to support emerging and established artists who have impacted culture. Championing Mexican culture, de Nieves’s artwork fuses traditional Mexican craft with storytelling.

“As the tequila category grows, 1800 Tequila maintains its leadership as the world’s most awarded tequila and a historic Mexican brand that prioritises taste across both tequila and culture. This decades-long art project has produced accessible art collectables for our fans, collaborating with some of the world’s most culturally relevant artists,” said Lander Otegui, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Proximo Spirits.

“We are proud to have an Essential Artist such as Raúl de Nieves join us this year to explore and introduce our multi-faceted and colourful Mexican culture to a U.S. audience.”

The 1800 Tequila Essential Artist Series 12 featuring Raúl de Nieves’ bespoke bottle collection is now available at 1800Tequila.com and in limited quantities in-store nationwide.
