American Whiskey distillery Westward has introduced its first 2023 Club release, Westward Whiskey Sauternes Cask.
Combining the prestige of French winemaking with the innovation of the American Northwest, the expression is now available for pre-order for Whiskey Club members and for new members who join the Westward Whiskey Club before February 20.
“We’re delighted to further elevate the Westward Whiskey Club experience for our members,” said Miles Munroe, master blender at Westward Whiskey
“Sauternes Cask showcases our commitment to sourcing the finest possible ingredients in the Northwest,” Munroe continued, “and believe that time in the barrel should enhance the flavours of our raw ingredients and amplify the fruity characteristics found in our whiskey.”
Continuing the brand’s love for wine-finished whiskeys, the Sauternes Cask has resulted in savoury fruity characteristics where Sauternes’ rich and indulgent dried fruit flavours have combined with Westward’s signature bright, tropical notes.
Finished for 14 months in Sauternes casks from one of France’s Grand Cru Classé estates, which has earned the highest and most prestigious wine classification, the expression has been bottled at 90 proof and presents aromas of honeysuckle, white peach, orange peel and vanilla pastry.
The palate offers notes of vibrant tropical fruits, honey-drenched peaches, ginger, light oak and roasted nuts, while the finish brings forward notes of apricot, lemon, jasmine, orange blossom, cedar, tobacco and honey.
Westward Whiskey’s Club reaches consumers in more than 35 states and offers members exclusive access to club-only whiskey releases, club-only events and fellowship with others who celebrate American whiskey innovation.
