The famed sambuca Opal Nera is being relaunched across all markets with a new bottle design that has a ‘secret twist’

The striking new bottle comes with a unique code for consumers to crack. Playing on its mysterious point of difference, a code lies beneath the logo. It also sits on the bottleneck, which consumers can decipher using a sequence of letters and numbers that appear on the rim, revealing the words ‘dark secret’.

The new Opal Nera bottle design at first glance looks like black frosted glass, but upon pouring, a purple colour that matches the liquid is revealed with a vibrant purple hue.

Nothing changes with the liquid itself – a blend of spices including star anise and green aniseed, orange blossom, coriander, cinnamon, cloves, and lemons from Sicily. While the black spices provide its complexity, it’s elderberries that provide its unique purple hue.

Scotch Whisky brand Macallan has launched the latest addition to its iconic Double Cask range with Double Cask 30 Years Old.

A charming combination of cinder toffee, honeycomb, vanilla and red apples, the expression exhibits a rich depth of flavour and a complex character.

As the name suggests, the 3oyear is a blend of the best balance of spirit from both the American and European oak casks. The sherry seasoned American oak imparts delicate, sweet flavours, while the European oak delivers the subtle and classic style of The Macallan.

“The Macallan Double Cask 30 Years Old is a modern take on our classic 30-year-old and is an exceptional aged single malt,” said Kirsteen Campbell, Master Whisky Maker, The Macallan.

“With a rich combination and depth of flavour and a complex character, it is a whisky to be savoured, exhibiting notes of cinder toffee, fresh honeycomb, rich vanilla and red apples. The Macallan Double Cask brings together sherry seasoned American and European oak casks to create the perfect balance of flavours. It is the oak that gives the whisky its natural colour and is the single greatest contributor to the quality, distinctive aromas and flavours.”

The Macallan has collaborated with American artist and photographer, Erik Madigan Heck to showcase the signature tastes and unique and distinctive flavour profile of Double Cask 30 Years Old. Taking his inspiration from the natural landscape on The Macallan Estate and the complex flavours and natural colour of the whisky, he captured imagery evoking the single malt’s character in a unique and contemporary way.

Taking his inspiration from the natural landscape, artist and photographer, Erik Madigan Heck has collaborated with The Macallan to showcase the signature tastes and unique and distinctive flavour profile of Double Cask 30 Years Old. in a unique and contemporary way.

Chef Robert Irvine Launches Irvine's Spirits

US Chef and TV host Robert Irvine, in partnership with the award-winning Boardroom Spirits Distillery in Pennsylvania, has launched Irvine’s Spirits.

Both Irvine’s Precision Distilled Vodka and Irvine’s American Dry Gin are crafted from a selection of non-GMO corn, naturally gluten-free and are precision distilled to remove impurities for a clean sipping, 80-proof spirit.

Chef Irvine has brought his vast culinary experience to bear on product development and market research, honing and refining the approach until ultimately creating a gin and vodka that embodies his attitude and personality.

Irvine’s vodka is filtered through active carbon for a clean, neutral aroma and smooth, mildly sweet finish, while gin uses a hybrid distilling method that combines pot and column distillation to extract bold, yet delicate aromas and flavours.

Using his own pantry as inspiration for the gin, Chef Irvine has selected thirteen botanicals, which include black currant, Ceylon cinnamon, elderberry, jasmine flower and tea, to create a complex, approachable, and clean 90-proof gin.

As a restaurant owner himself, Chef Irvine believes everyone deserves a taste of the best that life has to offer. Irvine’s Spirits is the culmination of that dream.

Patrón Tequila has teamed up with London private members’ club Annabel’s to create a limited edition bottle to raise money for the Amazon rainforest. The move is part of the Annabel’s for the Amazon initiative, which has committed to planting a million trees by March 2023.

Inspired by the members’ club and the Brazilian rainforest, the bottle and box use the club’s Jungle Bar for its design and features hand-drawn illustrations that cover the mirror-panelled walls of the room. The packaging is fully recyclable.

On September 30, 2021, the venue will host celebrities, members and environmentalists for the inaugural Annabel’s for The Amazon event, which aims to help save the rainforest.

Hosted by The Caring Family Foundation in collaboration with One Tree Planted. the organisations hope the event will help to plant one million trees by March 2023, equivalent to approximately 600 hectares of forest restored and equal to 4.2 Hyde Parks.

The bottle is available exclusively to buy from Selfridges’ website and storesProceeds from the sale of the limited edition bottle will be donated to the reforestation of the Brazilian rainforest with each bottle sold will plant 22 trees.

In addition, three Patrón Amazon cocktails will be available at Annabel’s during September, with the partnership planting an extra 10 trees for each drink sold.

Eva Longoria has launched Casa Del Sol, a new luxury sipping tequila brand which she co-founded. The ultra-premium spirits brand is inspired by the magic of the golden hour and Mayahuel, the Aztec goddess of agave, and translates to “house of the sun” in Spanish. The brand debuts with three offerings: Blanco, Reposado and Añejo.

Casa Del Sol is made from hand-selected 100% Blue Weber agave sourced from rich clay soil in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico.
