French Gin brand Citadelle Gin has announced it will launch its latest permanent expression Citadelle Rouge to the UK market in July.
Characterised by fresh cranberry, raspberry, blackberry, blackcurrant, and rhubarb, the expression is made with the same dedication to quality ingredients and distilling process that is synonymous with the brand,
“When I created and launched Citadelle back in 1996, there was no such thing as artisanal gins or any craft movement, it was the desert, and I felt lonely at that time. I dreamed of a moment when the gin category would open up, and real gins made with real things would blossom.” Alexandre Gabriel, Founder and Master Distiller of Maison Ferrand expressed.
“Several years on, I am thrilled to see that the category has finally expanded with all kinds of expressions. Lately, however, I have been worried to see that gins were being made with artificial flavours and colours. I think that this is a danger for the category, so I created Rouge to showcase a beautiful gin that uses nicely extracted and distilled 100% natural red fruits.
Celebrating the complexity of botanicals and the freshness of fruit, Citadelle Rouge harmoniously blends 19 botanicals, including juniper, coriander, orange peel, cardamom, and cinnamon, combined with the vibrant flavours of fresh red fruits.
“Since we use distillation,” Gabriel continued, “the flavour comes through but not the colour, and we refuse to use any artificial aspect of our gins. We decided to call it Rouge for the taste, but of course not for the colour.”
Rouge joins the ranks of Citadelle Gin’s highly successful core expressions, including the Original and Jardin d’Été. Each expression reflects the brand’s dedication to crafting exceptional gins that delight and inspire gin connoisseurs around the world.
