Award-winning independent bottler of American whiskey Lost Lantern is introducing a collection of carefully curated bottles from some of the most exciting bourbon distilleries across the USA.

For the second summer, the brand is embarking on its ‘Summer Of Bourbon Collection’, a campaign with nine bottle releases that aims to communicate that great bourbon now comes from all over the United States.

“This year, we want to encourage whiskey lovers to keep exploring the increasingly wide world of bourbon, in all the forms that it takes from coast to coast,” said Lost Lantern Co-Founders Nora Ganley-Roper.

First release – on sale June 20th –

Far-Flung Bourbon II: 126.6 Proof (697 bottles)
The second edition of Lost Lantern’s flagship bourbon brings together bourbons from states and distilleries that have never been blended before. Far-Flung Bourbon II highlights distilleries from the eastern half of the country, ranging from cooler northern climates to the hot, humid Deep South. Age: 5 years
Component Distilleries: Starlight Distillery (Indiana), Kings County Distillery (New York), Rich Grain Distilling Co. (Mississippi), Smooth Ambler (West Virginia), and Wollersheim Distillery (Wisconsin).

Mississippi Memory Rich Grain Distilling Straight Bourbon: 140 Proof (500 bottles) Components range from 5 to 7 years
This is Lost Lantern’s first release from a ghost distillery partner and will be one of the only opportunities ever for whiskey lovers to try Rich Grain’s whiskey. Rich Grain Distilling was founded to create a whiskey that reflected Mississippi’s hot, humid climate. Although the distillery closed in 2020, the whiskey continued to age in Mississippi, and this marriage of the distillery’s 5- and 7-year-old bourbons celebrates Rich Grain founder David Rich’s original vision for a true Mississippi bourbon, born of the Deep South.

Second release – on sale on July 11th –

Leiper’s Fork Tennessee Whiskey Single Cask: 115.8 Proof (123 bottles) Age: 5 years
Lost Lantern’s first-ever Tennessee Whiskey comes from Leiper’s Fork Distillery, which has brought the art of small-scale distillation back to Middle Tennessee. And yes, Lost Lantern counts Tennessee whiskey as a subset of bourbon! Age:

Rock Town Arkansas Straight Bourbon Single Cask: 117.6 Proof (200 bottles) Age: 4 years
The first legal distillery in Arkansas since Prohibition, Rock Town creates world-class spirits from Arkansas grain and celebrates the farmers who grow it. This also marks the first Lost Lantern whiskey from either Arkansas or Rock Town Distillery.

FEW SPIRITS RELEASES SMASHING PUMPKINS BOURBON

June 4,2024

Illinois craft distillery Few Spirits has collaborated with Madame Zuzu’s Emporium, a boutique tea shop run by Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan and his wife, to release Few Smashing Pumpkins Bourbon.

Using Few’s four-year-old straight Bourbon as its base, the expression has been proofed to 46.5% ABV and cut using the tea shop’s Midnight Rose Black Tea.

“Whether you’re making music, painting, blending tea, or distilling spirits, you’re making art,” said master distiller Paul Hletko. “As a Chicagoan, I felt a personal responsibility to match the raw, primal energy of the Pumpkins. Songs like ‘I Am One’ – the opening track of the band’s first album, Gish – provided a ton of inspiration.”

Wanting to capture the band’s “driving, yet symphonic quality”, the expression reveals an aroma of ripe honeydew, vanilla, and rose water, with sandalwood, caramel, and black tea on the palate.

The label for the expression has been created by Chicago visual artist Katelan Foisy, who drew inspiration from elements of vintage tea tins and labels, merging them with Art Deco and Victorian design. Foisy has previously worked with both Madame Zuzu’s and the Smashing Pumpkins and included a lyric to the band’s song ‘Tonight, Tonight’ on the back label.

The Smashing Pumpkins expression will be available through the distillery’s website and in select markets this summer to coincide with the band’s North American tour.

MACKMYRA CELEBRATES 25 YEARS WITH THE RELEASE OF ITS 1999 BRUKET

June 4,2024

Swedish distillery Mackmyra will celebrate its 25th anniversary with an exclusive series of four special-edition anniversary releases. Only 1999 bottles of each edition will be made available.

Starting with “Bruket”, a cask-aged bloodgrape gin that celebrates the place where it all began, the series will continue later in the fall with the addition of three whiskies expressions.

Bruket is the only cask-aged gin in the series and displays the distillery’s innovative nature, as it is aged in bourbon and American oak barrels and saturated with bloodgrape liqueur. Its distinct grapefruit character imparts a lively taste with a soft bitterness.

“The fact that a cask-matured gin is the first in the anniversary series feels just right, explained Lii Johnson, Mackmyra’s Master Blender. “Mackmyra’s history began at Bruket, and it was also at Bruket that we started making gin in 2017.

“The gin, aged here in barrels saturated with a bloodgrape liqueur, stands out among our previous saturations in gin barrels,” Johnson continued. “It has a little more bitterness and a little more bitter notes that complement our gin perfectly. Equally good to drink neat or as a base in a G&T.”

The aroma is characterized mainly by sweet citrus with ripe blood grapefruit and blood orange. There are also floral notes of elderberry. With time in the glass, the gin emerges more clearly with its notes of juniper and mild coriander.

It is a lively flavour with a distinct juniper character, sweet clementines, and mango. The many citrus notes, with blood grapefruit being the most prominent, contribute to a soft bitterness and slightly bitter mouthfeel.

The finish is unusually long. Bitterness and acidity build the aftertaste with notes of juniper, lingonberry and blood grapefruit. The grapefruit stays in the mouth for a long time, and over time, it transitions from bitterness to sweetness.

JENNIFER LOPEZ’S DELOLA COCKTAILS LAUNCHES LIGHT MARGARITA

May 31,2024

Delola, the premium line of ready-to-enjoy cocktails founded by Jennifer Lopez, has announced the release of a new expression: the Light Margarita Cocktail.

A lower-calorie twist on the classic Margarita cocktail, the Delola Light Margarita is crafted with premium Tequila and triple citrus

“By introducing Delola to the world, we wanted to provide world-class cocktails without all of the calories and effort,” explained Jennifer Lopez, Delola Chairwoman. “The Delola Light Margarita is fresh and delicious with premium tequila and triple citrus notes. I think it’s the perfect ready-to-enjoy version of the most popular cocktail.”

“Whether you’re bringing a bottle to a BBQ during the warmer months or entertaining and gifting for get-togethers, the convenience and elegance of Delola Cocktails frees you up so you have more time to spend with friends and family,” Lopez continued.

Recently awarded the coveted Gold Medal at the San Francisco Ready To Drink Competition, Delola cocktails are made with natural botanicals and are gluten-free, lower-in-sugar and lower-in-calories than traditional cocktails

“The launch of Delola Light Margarita follows all the positive feedback we’ve received for our three initial cocktails,” said Delola’s master mixologist, Lynnette Marrero. “People today are more aware of the quality and ingredients in their drinks, and the fact that we’ve crafted mixology-level cocktails using natural ingredients is clearly resonating with consumers.

“We’re also committed to ensuring Delola Cocktails provide a ‘better-for-you’ option with lower ABV, lower sugar, and less calories in each serving than traditional cocktails. Our Light Margarita was crafted with that in mind, and is 125 calories versus 220 calories plus for a classic margarita,” Marrero continued.

Marrero and Lopez also collaborated on the three original expressions, Vodka-based Bella Berry Cocktail, Tequila-based Paloma Rosa Cocktail, and Amaro-based L’Orange Spritz.
