While some on the tonne might be indulging in the spirit of the Agave this Paloma Day, the truly artful have realised that it is also World Bee Day and have taken to the more de bonnet but ever so slightly scandalise combination of gin and honey for their evening refreshment.
This most remarkable of cocktail, is yet another jewel of the season, as it utilises Sherry, Ginger Liqueur & of course a Honeybee Gin. Certainly aimed to tempt not only the tastebuds but also any young suitors that might prefer their libations (as well as their conquets), on the sweeter side.
But it is only at the most exclusive soirees that this cocktail can be found – for it is less of a diamond of the season and perhaps more of a Queen Bee
An average G&T it is not, but more of a fully blown taste explosion and that is indeed a rare jewel; something that even this jaded author must applaud.
While the heart is considered our most curious of organs, it shares a desire with the tastebuds to be, as we want, to have certain satisfaction.
What is this cocktail you ask? Well, undoubtedly, if anyone is to reveal its true content, it is I. So emerging like the tender centre of a flower, I present to you The Queen Bee
10ml 2:1 sugar syrup (2 part sugar, 1 part boiling water, stir till clear)
Instructions
Combine ingredients in a shaker (or jam jar) and add as much ice as possible. Cover and shake for 20 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh cubes of ice
Garnish with a lemon slice
