Scottish distillers The Glenturret is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Jaguar E-type with a limited-release whisky.
In 1961, a historic overnight drive from Coventry to the Geneva Motor Show marked the birth of a motoring legend: the E-Type Jaguar.
With an exclusive release limited to only 265 bottles (in line with the automotive icon delivering 265bhp), the expression has been inspired by the E-Type’s charisma and spirit. Using some of the oldest whiskeys in The Glenturret stock, because he wanted to reach back to the 1960s Geneva Motor Show and when the E-type was released.
“The youngest spirit in this whisky is 30 years old, with a lot older liquid in there as well,” said Laurie. “There is a depth to this whisky that is quite unique to this product.”
Glenturret whisky maker Bob Dalgarno said: ‘The whisky is a minimum age of 30 Years Old and drawn from four casks. Three Oloroso sherry-seasoned European oak butts bring rich intensity, and a single Amontillado sherry-seasoned American oak quarter cask gives a delicate elegance.
‘Wood spices quickly accelerate on the palate then brake suddenly. Darker fruits pull forward, liquorice sweeps in, and sweetness flows throughout. Maturing oak intertwined with wood spice is last to arrive bringing a sweet, spicy and warming finish.’
