Bars March is back again this month to raise money for the Animal Welfare League. So it’s time to get into one of the supporting bars and have a drink to save a dog.
Now. in its tenth year, the Bars March motto,‘good times for a good cause’ is more important than ever. Although normally doggo focused the Animal Welfare League have been doing their bit for the recent bushfire victims, sending mobile hospitals out into the bush to help anyone furry in need.
So if you love dogs (or any of their furry cousins), get down to any of the participating bars this month to lend a paw to this great cause. Each year, participating bars create a Bars March drink, add it to their menus and donate a portion of the sales to our charity.
In Sydney, the list includes The Barber Shop, The Duke of Clarence, Bancho, O Bar Dining, The Erko, Lobo Plantation, Kittyhawk, Bartolo, SoCal, The Butler, Bopp & Tone, The Botanist (Kirribilli), as well Skye Bar at The Marsden Hotel, All Hands Brewing House and The Kurrajong Hotel in Sydney.
In Melbourne, there’s Golden Monkey, Madame Brussels, The Tipsy Cow, Newmarket Hotel and more.
The UK distillery Warner’s Gin have gotten behind the cause with bespoke Warner’s cocktails available at Sydney’s The Duke of Clarence and The Barber Shop and also at Madame Brussels in Melbourne.
At the Duke of Clarence, the Warner’s Gin cocktail is –
Halfway to Harrington
· 30ml Warner’s London Dry Gin
· 30ml Warner’s Rhubarb Gin
· 20ml Watermelon juice
· 10ml Lemon juice
· 10ml Finger lime cordial
· 3 Drops saltbush
· Method: Add all ingredients, dry shake, wet shake, strain
· Glass: Gold rim coupette
· Garnish: Toasted rhubarb nest
At the Barbershop, the Warmner’s Gin cocktail is –
Warner’s Tonica
· 45ml Warner’s Rhubarb Gin
· 120ml Artisan Pink Citrus tonic
· Method: Build over cubed ice
· Glass: Bordeaux glass
· Garnish: Lemon wheel, finger lime halves. basil sprig, juniper berries
At Madame Brussel’s, they have created two Warmer’s Gin cocktails, they are –
Warner’s Rhubarb Sour
· 60ml Warner’s Rhubarb Gin
· 30ml fresh lemon
· 15ml sugar syrup
· Peychaud’s bitters
· Dehydrated grapefruit, flower and mint garnish
Warner’s Rhubarb & Ginger
· 45ml Warner’s Rhubarb Gin
· Fentimans Ginger Ale
· Dehydrated pear and fresh green apple garnish
