Country music star Thomas Rhett and his cousin, pecan magnate Jeff Worn, are releasing Dos Primos Tequila Reposado at the beginning of March. The new expression comes after the two released the first tequila, a Blanco, in January last year.

Featuring hand-harvested 100% blue agave sourced from estates in Los Altos and the valley area of Jalisco, Mexico, the Dos Primos Tequila Reposado is aged for at least six months in used bourbon barrels. The finished product is bright and golden in colour, with hints of dried fruit, smooth vanilla and toasted oak on the palate.

“When Jeff and I started the Dos Primos Tequila company four years ago, we knew we wanted to continue to expand our tequila family,” said Thomas Rhett. “We’ve been so blown away by the response to our Blanco and couldn’t be more pumped to now introduce a reposado together. Similar to our original goal, we’ve worked hard to make this as versatile as possible and seamlessly fit into any activity, regardless of the time of year.”

Dos Primos is distilled at Destiladora González Lux, located just outside the city of Arandas, Mexico, in the highlands of Jalisco. Rodolfo González, a third-generation master distiller at Destiladora González Lux, worked with Thomas Rhett and Worn to create the taste profiles of the Blanco and reposado offerings.

“I worked closely with the founders throughout the distillation process to ensure we were creating a tequila that would exceed standards and expectations,” said González. “This latest Dos Primos product is a gorgeous and delicious reposado tequila that is smooth and versatile.”

The reposado tequila is packaged in a clear embossed-glass bottle and features a natural wood cork and genuine black-leather cord wrapped around the neck. The fabric label is hand-applied in Mexico and bears the signatures of Worn and Thomas Rhett.

Kentucky Bourbon brand Old Forester has announced the national debut of one of its most coveted and rarest expressions, President’s Choice.

Previously available only at the Old Forester Distillery in Louisville, this marks the first time President’s Choice Bourbon and a new expression, President’s Choice Rye, will be offered at select retailers nationwide in limited quantities.

Inspired by private single barrels offered in 1964 by former Old Forester president George Garvin Brown II, this modern offering is specifcally selected from matured barrels with exquisite quality and distinct characteristics.

“President’s Choice has always been an incredibly rare and cherished bottle, and most consumers have never seen it, let alone tasted the whisky,” Master Taster Melissa Rift said.  “We are honoured to bring it to a wider audience.”

Kentucky Bourbon brand Angel’s Envy has announced its newest Cellar Collection Series, Vol. 5, with the release of its Straight Rye Whiskey Finished in French Oak Extra Añejo Tequila Barrels.

To lock the flavour profile together into a cohesive, yet layered experience, the liquid is aged up to 7 years, then finished in French Oak Extra Añejo tequila barrels for up to 12 months, before being blended with an older Straight Rye Whiskey, aged for over 11 years.

Master Distiller Owen Martin travelled to Hacienda Patrón, the home of Patrón Tequila’s distillery in Jalisco, Mexico, to select the barrels, immersing himself in the world of tequila making.

“This launch is very special to me as the first Cellar Collection innovation for Angel’s Envy that I oversaw from beginning to end,” explained Martin. “As a part of the vision, we collaborated with Patrón Tequila’s Master Distiller, David Rodriguez, to identify a parallel between the production processes. The UK’s Hawkridge Distillers has announced the launch of its debut premium whisky, made in partnership with the renowned Berkshire-based celebrity chef, Alain Roux.
