While your first instinct today might be to make a Mint Julep as part of your  Kentucky Derby celebrations, Woodford Reserve is suggesting you might want to hold off.
Rather than muddling mint and adding Bourbon and water to a Julep cup, the Kentucky Whiskey brand is suggesting you instead mix that Bourbon with lemonade and Cranberry Juice to make their new Derby cocktail The Woodford Spire.
While the mint Julep may still be the official drink of the race, the 3-ingredient Woodford Spire, is Woodford Reserve’s signature Kentucky Derby Cocktail. Officially launched in 2018, it is easy to make one or a batch in just a few minutes so you won’t miss any of the race.
Woodford Spire
Ingredients
1.5oz Straight Bourbon Whiskey
2oz Lemonade
1oz Cranberry Juice
Instructions
Add ingredients to mixing glass and stir. Pour over ice. Garnish with a lemon twist.
To make sure that everyone can be included, Woodford has also created a no-alcohol version.
